Your self-care this summer | How to self-care this summer

While you've probably been told that summertime is a "relaxing" time, for most people that's not the case. You may feel your stress levels rising. Maybe you already have a packed schedule that leaves little time to recharge your tired body, skin and healthy routines. Take time for self-care in the summer with these tips.

Get a great new outfit or new swimming clothes that you feel really good in.

Explore your own city. It's amazing how many people don't visit destinations in their own city, even if they would really like to explore them. Maybe it's a great nature reserve, park, lake or walking trail, or a museum, famous bookshop or ice cream parlour off the beaten track. Because we tend to forget how important it is to be a tourist in our own city.

Relax during household chores. Many people prioritise dusting and vacuuming over relaxing. Try to change that this summer. A short 20- or 40-minute nap can boost productivity and improve performance anyway. So get some sleep.

Why not go for a walk? Exercise is important to look after yourself and feel good. Just 30 minutes of walking five days a week is good for your heart and reduces the risk of disease.

Take time out for a beauty programme. For example, pamper yourself with a facial at home. Cooling face masks are available in most beauty departments or online, or are easy to make at home and can reduce any skin inflammation caused by the heat. Plus, you'll feel much better afterwards.
