Travelling with the PAKAMA Bag | What do I have to consider?

Travelling with the PAKAMA Bag | What do I have to consider?

Travelling with hand luggage only: in a plane it is almost impossible to travel without it. Especially on long flights, you simply want to have a few practical or valuable items with you at all times. Experienced travellers even travel exclusively with hand luggage - no matter how long or how far away it is. Whether you only want to take your camera and travel guide or your complete luggage including gym as hand luggage on the plane: there are still some rules and regulations that you should observe when travelling with the PAKAMA Bag.

Apart from the obvious things like size and weight, there are since the tightening of the flight safety laws, especially with liquids and other "dangerous" articles, always uncertainties. We get more and more questions about travelling with the PAKAMA Bag. Especially the bar gives some people a queasy feeling. And rightly so, because under certain circumstances it can be declared a weapon. But if you follow the following points, there should be no problems with the security checks and the airline.

1. how large may my hand luggage be?

Basically, most airlines have a maximum luggage size of 55 cm x 40 cm x 20 cm. The PAKAMA Bag can therefore be used without hesitation due to its dimensions (43 cm x 28 cm x 13.5 cm). Cool feature, you can enlarge the PAKAMA Bag to a total of 25L if you need more storage space. To be on the safe side, you can still check the regulations with the airline before departure.

Some airlines make exceptions when it comes to sports and music equipment or other sensitive items. From our own experience we know that the PAKAMA Bar, for example, does not always pass through every security check without problems. So if you want to be on the safe side, you should ask your flight provider in advance.

2. weight limitation

Again, the regulations vary from airline to airline. Mostly 8-10kg are allowed. As with the size, you should check with your airline before departure. Weight checks are clearly a rarity when it comes to hand luggage. So if you don't appear to carry a suitcase of lead around, normally nobody will check the weight.

3. number of pieces of luggage

In principle, a maximum of one piece of baggage applies. But there are exceptions here as well. Some airlines allow an additional simple notebook bag or small handbag. Bags with duty-free items, which were purchased after the security checks or on the plane, may also be taken along additionally. Here it makes sense if YOU already carry all your electrical equipment in a separate bag or pouch. This way you are well prepared for the security check, as all electronic devices are checked separately anyway.

4. liquids in the PAKAMA bag

Safety regulations for liquids have become much stricter and time and again you can see perfume, cream or drinking water being thrown into the bin when you check it. This is a pity and certainly anything but sustainable. Therefore, there are some rules to be observed here as well: Common and harmless products with liquids up to a maximum of 100ml per unit (what is written on the packaging applies) are allowed. All articles must fit into a re-sealable transparent bag with a maximum capacity of 1 litre. The bag must not burst at all seams.

Prohibited liquids

Of course there are also liquids that you are not allowed to take on board under any circumstances, such as lighter fuel or gas. If you are not sure, you can simply take the product in question and ask the security officers. In the worst case, you might just have to throw it away.

Drugs?

Exceptions fortunately exist for necessary medication and baby food. Both may also be taken on board in larger quantities. In the case of medication, it may be necessary to be able to provide proof.

5. what is not yet allowed?

Of course there are many items that are not allowed in hand luggage under any circumstances. But most of them explain themselves: Weapons and drugs of any kind are strictly forbidden, just like animals.

We know that the PAKAMA Bag could of course pass for a weapon. But don't worry, you can take the bag and all the equipment (in rare cases without a bar) on board.

Happy Travels!
